Lets take a look at both sides of the argument. First the bad reasons.
1) They lag
2) No advanced tools
3) No studio
The good reasons
1) We can build with friends
2) They autosave
3) They have more processing power so there is generally less lag.
So is the argument balanced? Fairly. But as with most things, Personal Servers are good and bad depending on your viewpoint. I personally love them. But you might hate them. Its all down to personal preference. What do YOU like?
So why would people complain about studio not being a feature. Well, people would do this because they want to be able to script with friends, and do other, more advanced, things in the server. However, this is a problem because scripts wouldnt work until the place had been restarted, and also people could mess up the game beyond the owners control. This would most likely have to be an owners choice, if they wanted to allow studio in their game.
Many people like them, many people hate them, and some are inbetween. What are you?
HI, i really like the blog, i personaly have two servers right now and havent had them long enuff to really say. But as a first impression i dont like the lack of studio but the tools you get a spawn are cool. I like the admin list set up alot, i hope that will carry over to the regular places. I will check back after a week and see how my impresion changed after really using and running a server.
ReplyDeleteHi Daniel, Well its been a week with my PBS and i LOVE it! We have had so much funz the last week i havent even played regular games :O the tools are the best. I have been useing telamon's 'The Islands' as the base map and it a cool enviroment to build in. Thanks for the cool blog and all the time you put in to it.
